The Wonders of Virginia
How beautiful is Virginia? It seems like every square inch of it is of some national and historical significance. Add to that its long beaches, the Appalachians and marshes clad in pine. Did you know that this is where the line between the North and the South is drawn? That’s right; you step into Virginia and know that you are in the South when you hear someone with a Southern drawl offering you some biscuits and some ham. It is a very promising place to take a vacation in and now its time to see of Virginia lives up to its promise as a great vacations spot.
As mentioned, this place is very historically significant and you will find the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar which can be found in a gun foundry that dates back to the year 1861. It shows the war perspectives from separate groups- the Union, Confederates and African American people.
The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is also worth a visit as it is an 8000 acre wildlife habitat that also houses migratory birds. This is a very nice place to visit during migration season. Another place you should go to is the Chrysler Museum where you can find painting by the masters like Renoir, Picasso, Pollock and Warhol. It is a treat for the eyes for sure and will let everyone have an art experience to remember.
After that treat for the eyes, why not get some treat for you stomach? That is right, what is a vacation if you do not sample some local fare? 456 Fish serves some of the best seafood in town; it is an elegant diner that also serves some well cooked non-fish dishes to its customers. Caroline Street Café is the place to go if you are craving some home-cooked salads, soups and sandwiches. Croaker’s Spot is a restaurant that serves lovely seafood like fried catfish with spicy sauce.
Virginia has a lot going for it and there are certainly more things to do than can be crammed here. Take your time to enjoy the spots that you do get to go to and do not rush yourself.
